Below is just general information to help better understand the process but after each service your technician will review your situation and health and may give you varying aftercare protocol.

tattoo prep & aftercare
before your tattoo:
-
Hydration: Keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment.
-
Rest: Make sure you're well-rested by getting a good night's sleep before your tattoo session. This helps boost your immune system.
-
Eat Well: Have a balanced meal before your appointment to keep your energy levels up during the tattooing process.
-
Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol at least 24 hours before your appointment. It can thin your blood and affect the tattoo process.
-
Comfortable Clothes: Opt for loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area getting tattooed. This ensures your comfort during the session.
-
Avoid Sun: Shield the area from excessive sun exposure before your appointment to prevent sunburn.
-
Clean Skin: Arrive with clean skin. Make sure the area to be tattooed is free from lotions, oils, and makeup.
-
Communicate: Discuss your tattoo design, size, and placement preferences with your artist. Clear communication ensures your vision is realized.
-
Bring ID: Remember to bring a valid ID, especially if you're getting a tattoo that requires legal age.
-
Relax: Relax and enjoy the experience! Trust your artist's skills and expertise to create something amazing.
aftercare instructions:
-
Keep Bandage On: Leave the initial bandage on for the duration recommended by your tattoo artist (at Rarity, we suggest 2-3 days when using an adhesive clear film bandage).
-
Gentle Wash: After removing the bandage, gently wash the tattooed area with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap to remove excess ink and blood (We like Dial Gold).
-
Pat Dry: Gently pat the tattooed area dry with a clean, soft towel. Avoid rubbing to prevent irritation.
-
Moisturize Gently: Apply a thin layer of tattoo-specific ointment or a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep the area hydrated.
-
No Scratching: Resist the urge to scratch or pick at the tattoo as it heals. It's normal for tattoos to itch during this phase.
-
Avoid Soaking: Refrain from soaking the tattoo in pools, hot tubs, or baths until it's fully healed (Typically 2-3 Weeks).
-
Loose Clothes: Opt for clean, loose-fitting clothing to prevent friction and allow the tattoo to breathe as it heals.
-
Sun Protection: Shield the healing tattoo from direct sunlight and tanning beds. Once fully healed, use sunscreen to protect the colors.
-
Skip Intense Workouts (3-4 Days): Avoid intense workouts that can cause excess sweating and friction on the healing tattoo.
-
Healthy Lifestyle: Maintain a healthy lifestyle by staying hydrated and eating nutritious foods. This supports the healing process from the inside out.
